A high-level exchange meeting was held between Mr. Nabil Ben Khatra, Executive Secretary of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory and Mr. Ibrahim Thiaw, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss prospects and opportunities to align and pool the efforts of the two organizations to better serve and support major Sustainable Land & Water Management initiatives in Africa.
While recalling the long and fruitful collaboration between the OSS and the UNCCD, the discussions were also an opportunity to emphasize the perfect alignment of the OSS 2030 Strategy with the UNCCD 2018 - 2030 Strategy, aiming to contribute to the implementation of the Convention five strategic objectives for the decade to come.
